Doorcut
Terms of Service
Last updated 29 September 2026
Doorcut is an app for booking mobile hair stylists, barbers, nail technicians, makeup artists and lash and brow specialists who travel to you. These terms cover using it. They are written plainly on purpose.
What Doorcut is, and is not
Doorcut is a marketplace. The service you book is provided by an independent professional, not by Doorcut. They set their own prices, hours, travel area and standards of work. We handle the booking, the payment and the messaging between you.
Who can use Doorcut
You must be 18 or older to have a Doorcut account, and you confirm that you are when you agree to these terms in the app. A booking for somebody under 18 is made by their parent or guardian, using the parent’s or guardian’s own account, and a parent or guardian must be there, at the address, for the whole of the appointment.
Your account
You sign in with your phone number or your email address, and we send a one-time code to confirm it is you. Keep your access to that phone or inbox secure, and give us accurate details — a provider is travelling to the address you enter.
Text messages
When you sign in with a phone number, we text you a verification code. Message and data rates may apply. This is a one-time code sent at your request; it is not marketing, and we do not sell or share your number with anyone for marketing.
If you book on somebody else’s behalf, we text that person about the appointment: a confirmation, a reminder the day before, a message when the provider sets off, and one when they arrive. You confirm at the time of booking that they have agreed to receive those texts. They can reply STOP at any time to stop them, or HELP for help.
Booking, payment and cancellation
When you book, we place a hold on your card for the amount shown, and take it once the appointment is complete. If the appointment is far enough away that the hold would expire first, we replace it with a fresh one before the appointment.
Cancelling well in advance is free. Cancelling close to the appointment, or not being there when the provider arrives, may mean a cancellation fee. The exact amount and the deadline are shown to you before you confirm a booking, and your reminder the day before tells you when a fee may apply. If you cancel late in the app, the amount and the card it will be charged to are shown again before you confirm. If you are not there when the provider arrives, or you call the appointment off after they have set off, the provider records it and any fee is charged without asking you first: we let you know in the app when it is recorded, and again with the amount once it is charged. Cancelling within 30 minutes of booking is free, unless the provider has already set off.
A tip is voluntary, and 100% of it goes to your provider. Tips are not refundable.
No tolerance for abuse or objectionable content
Doorcut has no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Everything you post or send through Doorcut — photos, reviews, messages and your profile — must follow our Content and conduct policy. You must not harass, threaten, abuse or discriminate against anyone you meet through Doorcut, in the app or in person at an appointment.
We remove content that breaks these rules, and we may suspend or close the account of anyone who breaks them; where somebody’s safety is at risk we may do so straight away, without warning. You can report a photo, a review, a message or a person from inside the app, and block somebody you have dealt with through Doorcut; our Content and conduct policy explains what happens next.
What you post
You keep ownership of the photos, reviews, messages and profile details you post. So that we can run the service, you give Doorcut permission — a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence — to store, copy, resize and show them to other people using Doorcut: your photos, reviews and provider page to anyone browsing, and your messages to the person you sent them to.
This permission ends when the content is removed, with three exceptions, and it continues for those. Some content stays after you delete your account because it is part of somebody else’s record: a review keeps its words without your name, and the words of messages you sent stay in the conversation for the other person. When we take content down for breaking our rules, or it is part of a report, we keep a private record of what happened, although a photo itself is removed when the account that posted it is deleted. And when we decline a professional’s application, we keep a record of their page as it was when we decided.
We do not use your photos in our advertising or in the app stores without asking you first. Only post what you have the right to post; a photo of another person needs their permission.
If something goes wrong
Contact us at support@doorcut.app. We can review a cancellation fee or a no-show and reverse it where it was applied wrongly.
Your rights under consumer law
Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under consumer protection law, such as Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, 2002. Where a sentence here would, the law comes first.
Providers
If you take bookings through Doorcut, you are an independent business and not an employee of Doorcut. You are responsible for your own work, your own insurance, your own licences, and your own taxes — including charging and remitting tax where you are registered to. Doorcut takes a commission, at the rate shown in your account, on the bookings you complete through it and on the cancellation, no-show and late-move fees charged on your bookings (never on tips), and pays out the rest to your connected Stripe account.
Customer information, for providers
When you take bookings through Doorcut you see customers’ names, phone numbers, addresses and other details. That information is confidential. You may use it only to deliver Doorcut bookings and to communicate through Doorcut’s own tools, and you must not copy or export it, store it outside Doorcut, or use it to market to Doorcut customers outside the app. Calling a customer, or getting directions to their address, from the buttons in the app is part of delivering a booking, even though your phone may keep the call or the route in its own history. Keep your sign-in, your phone and anything else that gives access to customers’ information secure.
If a customer asks you directly to see, correct or delete information about them, send the request to us at support@doorcut.app within five business days, and we will respond to it. When your account closes, your access ends and you must destroy any copies you have. You are responsible for your own compliance with privacy law (PIPEDA) and anti-spam law (CASL) in anything you do outside Doorcut.
Changes
We may update these terms, and the Content and conduct policy they refer to. The date at the top is the version. When we change either of them in a way that matters, the app tells you and asks you to read and agree to the new version before you carry on. If you do not agree, you can stop using Doorcut. An appointment already booked, or money owed on one, still has to be cancelled or settled: write to support@doorcut.app and we will do that with you. Once nothing is booked or owed, you can delete your account from the app at any time.
